My Approach

icon

Non-patronizing

I never judge a client's life struggles. Assessing the barriers and helping clients find their voice while managing emotions is our path to the healing process.

icon

Individually tailored

No single psychological state, nor the patient is the same. This is why tailored client centered treatment planning is important. Our clients set the path for our treatment plans.

icon

Strengths-focused

My stance is that everyone has both a set of weaknesses and strengths. As a therapist, I will do my best to identify and empower your strengths. A strength is your super-power!

icon

Collaborative

A therapist-patient relationship is an equal partnership with shared motivations and goals. The therapist supports a process we co-create but the plan is driven by the client.

icon

Holistic

We support both holistic and Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) in combination with therapy in our office. Body, heart, mind, and spirit are all equally important here.

icon

Self-Pay or Insurance

Sometimes we want matters to remain private in our lives. Our office lives and breathes confidentiality and offers a variety of setting to accommodate your needs.

Evidence-Based Practice

Evidence-Based Therapy (EBT) seeks to ensure clients receive the best possible psychological treatment. I offer the following modalities:
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy● Psychoeducation ● Cognitive control training ● Cognitive restructuring ● Behavioral activation ● Token economy strategies● Applied, CBT, and DBT
Schema Therapy● Role play● Chair work
Mindful Acceptance ● Breathwork● Sensation Awareness● Singing bowl meditation
Keep in mind, strategies and interventions are great, but practice is key. Be open and present inside the sessions and build your reaction to responses outside the session.

Therapy is Progress

There’s no perfect way to tell your story — it’s complicated because you’re a real person who has lived for 20, 30, 40, etc years and has had a lot happen to make you who you are today. Starting anywhere you feel comfortable is perfectly fine. I often ask clients, “Do you know what you’d like to talk about, or would you like me to ask you some questions to get going?”
It’s common for people to show up and know they need help, but just not know exactly how to express their needs. It’s my job to guide you and give you a little direction. Oftentimes, there will be a “final straw” that brings someone to therapy such as a breakup, loss of a job or a major fight with their significant other.
Even if you are not in crisis, this can be wonderful because you have the mental space to start developing good coping strategies for when you do face difficulties.

Claiming Agency

Agency is the sense of control that you feel in your life, your capacity to influence your own thoughts and behavior, and have faith in your ability to handle a wide range of tasks and situations. Your sense of agency helps you to be psychologically stable, yet flexible in the face of conflict or change.

Agency is your very own power, your ability, to affect the future.

Many people, however, believe they have very little agency in their life. They take the attitude that life has handed them their own certain circumstances, things are what they are, and they are stuck forever.

You will learn more about Agency and it's four helpers during therapy:
● Intentionality● Forethought● Self-reactiveness● Self-reflection
